Amazing Grace / Nicaragua, Nicaraguita LIVE in Leon, Nicaragua

We had a wonderful concert in the colonial city of Leon, Nicaragua.  The crowds here in Nica have been so beautiful- and during this concert we put together this medly of the traditional American spiritual "Amazing Grace" (played with stunning beauty by the great Ezra Brown on Sax) and the Nicaraguan national post-revolution anthem "Nicaragua, Nicaraguita."  We were moved to tears by the response from the crowd-  it is amazing how quickly they spot the melody from Gray's Accordion (despite his beautiful reharmonizations). 

It was an incredible honor for me to sing this beautiful song, and the feeling I got from the crowd is beyond translation here. 

"Nicaragua, Nicaraguita" was written by Carlos Mejia Godoy- the "Pete Seeger" of Nicaragua-  he is a hero among the people here, and this song has become a point of great national pride.  Just listen to everyone singing along...
