Another Side of CC

Unknown, perhaps,  to the readers of this blog and the rock and rollers who inhabit many of the circles I travel in-  I have a side job.

I earn a little dough and keep my soul healthy by singing with various choral groups throughout New York.   This has taken me to the greatest stages in our city and has given me the chance to work with some of the giants of the conducting world.

This month, I had the incredible honor and pleasure of performing with our hometown band, The New York Philharmonic, in a glorious concert to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on our beloved city.  The piece, aptly chosen, was Gustav Mahler’s glorious Symphony #2 “Resurrection.”

The 5-movement symphony features a massive choir in the final movement, building to an emotional, musical peak that was unforgettable for all the musicians and audience in attendance.  The concert was filmed for a PBS “Great Performances” special- and the video (with very fine audio quality) is posted below.

I’m posting the final movement first, followed by the preceding movements.  Enjoy!  And look for your boy around 21:30,  30:15, and 34:50.  I’m thinking about wearing that tuxedo to my next show at Arlene’s Grocery!
